Buzzmonitor - the Yahoo! interview
Going to Defrag
I am happy to report that I will be attending the Defrag conference. The speakers are great, the topics are really relevant to what I do and it does not look like a large, boring, one-way conference. It's a fairly small - about 250 people I'm told - and open sessions and discussion spaces abound. I look forward to being there, chat about the Buzzmonitor and have a good time. If you are going, let me know.
Me, a net geek? - Salon.com covers the BuzzMonitor!
Ha ha. An article on Salon.com about the BuzzMonitor, an open source application i work on at the World Bank links to this very blog saying I am a net geek. Am I? I wish! I tried so hard to pickup mysql, php but miserably failed every single time. Lack of practice I guess. I'd much better rely on a professional and on a community of people who know what they are doing.
All jokes aside, the past two weeks following the release of the Buzzmonitor have been pretty exciting. Folks like Marnie Webb, Nathan Gilliatt and people at meneame and fresqui (spanish Diggs - thanks Claudia) and now Salon, wrote nice things about it. The application has been downloaded about 200 times at time of writing and we are just psyched that people are finding it useful. Onwards.
Buzzmonitor live but dont download until next week!
The buzzmonitor is live [http://buzzm.worldbank.org] so feel free to poke around, try the demo. You can download and install the tar that's up now but early next week, we will put another tar that is slightly easier to install for non gurus. Your feedback most welcome.
